Week 1 (a)
Well Happy New Year everyone! There was no break in parkruns between 2022 and 2023 and after yesterday's New Year's Eve parkrun, we were straight into a New Year's Day special to start 2023 off with a bang, and it was a much happier morning today weather-wise than yesterday with fresh air and some clear skies.
For Brendan D, down under in New Zealand, he had already ran his parkrun before most other Sinfin runners had got out of bed! Brendan, making a return visit to Lower Hutt parkrun near Wellington, finished in the top twenty plus won his age category.
On the road but back in the UK, Martin S made his debut west of Birmingham at Severn Valley Country parkrun finishing second in his age category. Chris S also took the short trip up to Poolsbrook parkrun and Kevin P debuted at Bestwood Village parkrun to finish in 10th spot and win his age category!
Back over Derby way, a small contingent of Sinfin members ran at Long Eaton, with Raymond E actually taking a well deserved break from volunteering and having a run instead! And finally at Markeaton, where the majority of our runners headed to, Maria G got herself an excellent course PB and won her age category, along with Duncan C.
So off we go again for parkrun 2023! I'll personally be looking forward to standard saturday parkruns again, so my results capturing process works as it should do without a whole host of problems!
