Week 52 (b)
Today marked the last parkrun of 2023, and despite the dreary and rather damp chilly weather 42 Sinfin members turned out, 4 of which volunteered.
Finding an excellent way to finish a year of parkrun were Dan W and Lucy T both celebrating their 100th parkruns - unfortunately Lucy T had to stand in the car park seeing everyone to their parking places along with Michael T before running, so tucking into Dan's special 100th parkrun cake afterwards was even more deserved! A bumper crowd of 24 Sinfin runners turned up, also after a slice of cake, and rather fittingly Dan W got himself the course PB he was looking for as well as being first in his age category. Well done Dan. Grabbing himself a course PB was new member Martin B, and Christopher M also was first in his age category.
There were lots of first timer visits to new courses today with this weekend's furthest travellers being Deanna S & Richard B at Tollcross parkrun in Glasgow. Up in the north-east were Samuel B & Tomas H at Jesmond Dene parkrun in Newcastle, and at nearby Whitby Alyson W was at The Cinder Track parkrun.
Mitchell M made his debut at a ridiculously muddy Cirencester parkrun, Martin S returned to the course he started the year at getting himself a cracking course PB west of Birmingham at Severn Valley Country parkrun also finishing in an excellent 4th place, and
in Birmingham itself, David L & Robert L debuted at Oaklands parkrun with David taking 5th spot on his first 'O' parkrun.
At Beacon Hill Country Park parkrun, Sarah S grabbed herself a fabulous course PB, and in Burton, Jane W actually ran the course at Battlestead Croft parkrun for the first time instead of purely volunteering, but couldn't resist a little barcode scanning afterwards!
Finally, at Markeaton, Julie M braved the wet and cold weather helping out as a marshal.
So that brings the 2023 parkrun season to a close. Well done to everybody who has run week in week out, and a particularly big shout out to everyone who has volunteered over the last 12 months, as the event can only take place with your invaluable help.
