Week 42
Parkrun was badly affected today, with Storm Babet giving everything a good soaking and swelling the rivers causing some major flooding. Quite why the name Babbitt was chosen instead of the usual run-of-the-mill, Samantha, Tarquin or Rupert I don't know. But Babbitt it was, and responsible (in some instances anyway) for the cancellations of quite a lot of local parkruns, giving our club members very few opportunities to run without some sort of road-trip for their parkrun fix. Still, 13 members turned out to run whilst generally the weather largely remained rain-free.
There was still opportunity for a major milestone to be reached with Brendan D heading to the Netherlands to register a "Z" parkrun at Zuiderpark, and thus completing all 25 letters of the alphabet (the parkrun alphabet that is as there is no X parkrun in the world!). Well done Brendan.
Back home Kevin P headed to Forest Rec parkrun for his first visit and a trio of Martin S, Nicky P & Sarah R were at Leicester Victoria parkrun for their debuts.
The furthest UK journey was made by Pascal S & Sarah S at Haverfordwest parkrun in Wales where only 73 turned up, but both were first in their age categories. Deanna S & Richard B debuted at Prudhoe Riverside parkrun, and Duncan C was at Skipton parkrun. There were course PBs for Robert L at Beacon Hill Country Park parkrun, and Dan W at Conkers where Jane W also ran.
