Week 45
On a gorgeously sunny Armistice Day, there was a moment's silence before parkrun began, in respect of those who made the ultimate sacrifice in wars past and present. The running (and volunteering) conditions were absolutely perfect for the 33 members who turned out across the various courses around the world.
Fiona F continued her holidays down under, this week with a trip to New Zealand for her first visit to Cornwall parkrun, a fair distance away from our own namesake county! She was also first in her age category to add a juicy cherry on top! And on the subject of fruit, also continuing on his holiday after the Big Apple New York Marathon last Sunday was Dan W who visited Danehy Park parkrun in Boston finishing in 10th spot and first in his age category!
Back in Derby, at Alvaston there were some outstanding performances, with Matthew S coming home in 1st place in a blistering 17:16, which was also a new PB for him - fantastic work Matt, and well done! David L also got himself a course PB in an amazing time of 19:15, and, a special mention goes out to Lucy T, one of Alvaston's Run Directors who grabbed herself a course PB, after a long road to recovery following major surgery. Well done Lucy!
In the local vicinity there were first time visits for Kevin P at Ashbourne Recreation Ground parkrun, also winning his age category, Nicky P at Shipley Country parkrun (pushing the buggy up THAT HILL....TWICE...bleugh!), Robert L was at Tamworth Castle Grounds parkrun, and Brian W headed to he amusingly named The Wammy parkrun in Stoke. At Long Eaton Ciaran M was another of our sub-20 runners today, managing a blistering 18:43 and 6th place - great running Ciaran!
Finally, furthest travelled (in the UK anyway) was Julie M, collecting herself a "U" at University Parks parkrun in Oxford.
Volunteering for us today were Sarah R at Long Eaton, Connah B & Richard B at Alvaston, and on her hols Susan W at Danehy Park parkrun. Many thanks for your help folks, as ever, always appreciated by the parkrun community.
Great work you Super Greens! 💚💜🏃🏻♀️🏃🏼
