Gem Meek

As we reach the end of May it's time to bring to you our "Meet the Green" Team featurette. This month we feature the wonderful Gemma Meek, or "Gem" as she likes to be known - and for good reason, as she is an absolute gem within the club!

Gem decided to give running a go taking the plunge and joining us at Sinfin roughly three years ago. Obviously, like it is for most people, it was hard work at first, but she kept at it, soon entering races and parkruns. She has built herself up through the distances with 10ks, half marathons and also recently got through her first marathon! She's also rattled past her first 50 parkruns in no time.

She is well known amongst her running friends for having a good old natter, and making new friends at races to the point where she knows their life stories by the end, and has made sure they are following each other on Strava!

Gem likes to hit the track on Monday and is a regular at Wednesday club night, also now helping to lead or tail groups. She is also keen to help newcomers to the club, who perhaps are low in confidence and help build them up, as she likes to make everyone feel included. She's a fabulous asset to the club!
