So the final parkrun of 2022 happened this morning on New Year's Eve, and it was a fairly dreary and cloudy one, with a few puddles to contend with after some early rain, but fortunately the rain largely held off during the run itself.
There were 20 of our club members at Alvaston, one of which (Ray E) was doing the marshalling shift once again shouting words of encouragement to the runners - thanks Ray! Of the running contingent Catherine W, Chris M, and Maria G were all first in their age categories and Sam B finished off a fine parkrun year with a top twenty position and sub-20 time.
On the road Caroline S and Trevor H were at Ashbourne with Trevor taking a top 20 position and Caroline grabbing 1st in her age category. At Long Eaton John B was first in his age category and Dan W made his first visit to Watermead Country Park in Leicester.
Saving the most impressive tourism until last though and making an enormous journey for a parkrun (probably one of the furthest journies you can make from the UK), was Brendan D, taking on Ara Harakeke parkrun down under in New Zealand, and doing rather well too with a top twenty finish and winning his age category.
That's it then for this year's parkruns, and so I'd just like to say well done to everyone who took part both running and volunteering, and would like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year.
Shall we do it all again next year?!
