A very cold and crisp morning in many areas of the country today, but fortunately our club members still managed to get in their pre-Xmas weekend parkrun fix. Numbers generally were lower at many parkruns due to the cold weather making many preferring on staying home racking up crazy gas and electricity bills to keep warm!
There were a couple of particularly outstanding moments yesterday with two first places and one second place! Firstly, Sam B who was on tour with Tomas H at Swaffham parkrun in Norfolk where only 53 made the run, sprinted home in a sub-20 time on a tough frozen and rather lumpy course to take 1st place! And then at Markeaton parkrun where 6 of our members ran, David and Jacob G produced sub-19 performances, to grab 1st and 2nd places! Amazing stuff and congratulations Sam, David and Jacob!
Elsewhere on the road today was Nicky P at Daventry winning her age category, Dan W popped up to Sherwood Pines winning his age category and grabbing a course PB as well and Andy & Julie S headed to Poolsbrook parkrun where they both volunteered for the new role of parkrun [pace] walkers!
More locally at Alvaston, Brian W, Chris S and Sharon C all were first in their age categories. Across at Long Eaton, John B was also first in his age category and at nearby Shipley Country parkrun Martin S and Kevin P braved the cold with Kevin winning his age category also.
Jane W headed to Rosliston to see a lovely Christmas brass band, and whilst she was at it, won her age category too!
On the volunteering front, along with Andy & Julie S at Poolsbrook, David L, Ray E and Robert L helped out at Alvaston.
