After the sad passing of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, many events had been cancelled, including some parkruns, but Alvaston remained on following permission from parkrun HQ. Markeaton and Shipley were both cancelled which meant an influx of extra runners to the course. After a moment's silence at Alvaston of roughly 14 seconds (2 for each of the monarch's 7 decades?!) the run began, just as the few spots of rain were turning into a pleasant drizzle.
Sinfin of course provided a bumper turnout themselves with 17 runners, and 2 volunteers - Brian W and Simon B offering to help out and also managing a rather colourful moment in the canal tunnel to provide the evidence - many thanks chaps! Fiona F was 1st in her age category and Sam took a top 20 position in the enlarged running field.
Locally at Long Eaton, John B enjoyed winning his age category, and Kevin P tripped to Conkers.
Further away, Andy and Julie S were at Isabel Trail in Stafford with Andy grabbing a course PB and Nicky P made her first visit to Poolsbrook with the buggy. Dan W was furthest travelled up at Prudhoe in preparation for tomorrow's Great North Run.
