Sinfin RC 40th Anniversary Party

This year marked the 40th Anniversary of Sinfin Running Club

To recognise this, we decided that we needed a party but also to gather as much historic details as we could from our current older members. This was quite a task as we have those that are in their mid-70’s and have been with the club for nearly 40 yrs which means that their memories are a not so good these days.

We then had a celebration evening at the Derby Irish Club on Beckett Well Lane on the 31st of August. This is the venue that we had celebrated our 30th Anniversary at and we have lot of members with a lot of Irish heritage fitting quite nicely with our Sinfin Green colours.

The evening was to showcase that history, recognise achievements and those that helped to make SRC a piece of the community.

The evening consisted of:

• Welcome drinks / history of the club displayed (trophies / pictures – slide show)

• Introduction from Chairman - Duncan Cowie

• PowerPoint presentation from Secretary – Brian Warner

Giving an overview of the history or Sinfin Running Club highlighting 4 of the current older members of the club – Chris Morrison, Barry Boole, John Bush and Mick George and their memories and many achievements

• Draw for London place

• Buffet

• Disco till close

We had 90 attendees to this event including a selection of prior members. My thanks extended to Barry and Bushy for inviting them along – the evening would not have been complete without then and they did seem to enjoy it.
