SINFIN RUNNING CLUB
MEET THE
COMMITTEE

Duncan Cowie
Committee Chair
I first joined the club in 1999 when I was in need of support and advice after getting a place in the London Marathon that year. It was a great choice as I got all the help I needed from the experienced runners. I developed a real passion for running and had a go at anything from 5K to marathons as well as cross country and other off road events. I’ve ran around 15 marathons in and beyond the UK and numerous other events in fantastic places with SRC friends. These days I particularly love off-road running along with many other like-minded people in the club and I regularly take part in cross country races and the club’s brilliant fell racing championship. As always with SRC, the camaraderie and mutual support among club members is what makes it so special.
David Lees
Membership Secretary
I'm the Club Membership Secretary. I've been in the club since 2019 and running fairly seriously now since doing my first half marathon in 2012. I'm a road runner and although I love the countryside absolutely hate all things mud and so it's solid surfaces all the way for me. I run up to marathon distance and enjoy trying to perfect my pace and times whilst still enjoying some of the finer things in life (beer, wine, chocolate, cake etc).

Dennis Ceranic
Vice Chair
I joined Sinfin in 2020 after not running for a long time. I mainly stick to road running but tried the fells last year and enjoyed it. Distance races such as half and full marathons are my preference but will have a go at anything. Joining Sinfin has really been good for me. The club offers so much and the friendliness and social side are second to none. If there’s anything I can help you with please ask.
Jane Wade
Treasurer & Ladies XC Captain
I'm Wadey, and I joined the club in September 2022. I've been a keen club runner for over 20 years and raced most distances from one mile to marathons, including one ultra and a Welsh mountain race. I enjoy on and off road running but do love the fells, which is what initially attracted me to this awesome club.

Sean Hedley
Men's Welfare Officer
Hi, my name is Sean. I’m part of the welfare team. I have been running for a few years but have never been a competitive runner. Since joining Sinfin at the end of 2024, I have improved a lot. I wanted to join a community where I could learn and improve with others. I am excited about my first full marathon in 2025. I love helping others and always have time for a chat!
Sheila Groves
Women's Welfare Officer
I joined the club in 2022, and the fun and friendships I have made are amazing. The support and encouragement I have received have greatly improved my mental health and fitness. I regularly attend Wednesday club nights and am always around for a chat. I enjoy both road running and off-road running and run all distances up to a marathon. I particularly enjoy parkruns, both running and volunteering.

Robert Lane
Technical & Social Media Lead
I've been running since 2011, originally running with Team Derby Runner before joining Sinfin in 2016. I'm a big fan of fast short distance road running, anything upto a half marathon, but preferrably 10ks. Over the years I've also done my fair share of cross country, fell and trail running and have ran circa 500 races, 50% of which parkruns, which I'm a massive advocate of. I'm responsible for capturing of members race results, and putting together the league tables for the club's championships, working with several other members to put together our social media content.
Martin Sower
Run Co-ordinator and Fell Liason
I’ve been running since 2008 and have been part of Sinfin Running Club since 2018. Since joining, I’ve learned so much about running and made some great friends along the way. I’m especially drawn to longer distances, with several ultras and personal challenges lined up this year. And for those who know me, it’s no secret that I love a good hill. When I’m not on a long run, you’ll likely find me at a fell championship race or enjoying the post-race socials. This is my fourth year on the committee, and I really enjoy giving back to our club, whether that’s planning club runs or supporting our growing team of qualified run leaders. I’m also part of the fell support crew, working behind the scenes to bring the championship together and encouraging members to give fell running a go.

Brendan Devlin
Club Apparel Organiser
I started running in 1994 and joined Sinfin in 2010. Originally I ran triathlons, but then moved onto 10ks and half's. Then I ran the first of my 20 marathons in 2004, and since then I have ran three ultras. I also like cross country races and my real passion is fell running, it's just the best. Plus, I'm also a parkrun addict.
Brian Warner
Men's Road Captain
I have been with SRC since 2010 and joined in an effort to shed a few pounds and get into shape. Little did I know how much I would end up enjoying running and it becoming a big part of my life. I’ve had a go at everything, road, cross country and fell, and enjoyed every part of it, particularly the outdoor freedom and the time where you can simply relax and concentrate on nothing more than running. I’m back now purely on the roads and enjoy anything up to a half marathon distance but I don’t do further than that. I’ve found SRC to be such a great club with everyone inspiring and encouraging you to always do your best.
Remember, every day is different but some days that day can be yours.

Lisa Doherty
Joint Women's Road Captain
I started running in 2022 and joined the club in 2023. With the support of the club, I have now run two major marathons and aim to complete the six stars. I mainly run on roads but will try anything once. The club has given me the chance to try new runs I wouldn't have done otherwise. You’ll see me in fancy dress, covered in glitter, and shouting ‘now a jumping one!’ (High School Musical style) for every photo we take. Running here at SRC is fun, friendly, and social.
Gemma Meek
Joint Women's Road Captain
Hi I’m Gem, I joined the club in 2021 and have never looked back. SRC has become a massive part of my life, from track sessions, club nights, races and parkruns. I enjoy road running mainly, but have ran a few fell races, and hoping to try a bit of XC soon. I like most distances and happy to give anything a go. I am currently training for the London marathon 2025. I feel honoured to be part of the ladies Captain team, I like to make everyone feel welcome. I am always happy to run with anyone or offer support. It is as important to me seeing other people achieve their goals as it is me achieving mine.

Kieran Mitchell
Men's Cross Country Captain
I've been running since the COVID lockdown and joined the club in 2023 to improve my running and learn from more experienced members. It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made, as I’ve not only grown as a runner but also found a great community. I enjoy a mix of road races, fell races, and cross country, but for me, the best part of the club is the social side, there’s nothing better than coming together as a group after a race. Now, as the Men’s Cross Country Captain, my goal is to encourage other members of the club to step out of their comfort zones and try off-road races.
